October 15-17 conference at The Riverhouse Hotel & Convention Center in Bend, Oregon addresses the ever-changing challenges of the healthcare landscape
Experts in the healthcare field will explore this year’s theme, Submitting Healthcare’s Challenging Peaks.
As the opening night conference presenter, Representative Val Hoyle (D-14) will focus on the most pressing healthcare issues currently facing the state. In addition to her role as the Majority Leader for the Oregon House of Representatives, Hoyle is committed to fighting for affordable access to healthcare and is an ASC champion at the state capitol. During the conference, Hoyle will receive the OASCA’s 2014 Legislator of the Year award for her resolute support of the ASC industry, in particular, her efforts to connect OASCA to the new Oregon Commissioner of Insurance to explore solutions to delayed payments from insurance companies and to provide certainty and clarity for life safety surveys by the Fire Marshal’s office.
In addition to updates on state and national trends in the ambulatory surgery field, conference presenters will delve into timely and practical topics such as developing and implementing a Quality Assurance Program, ways to keep an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) running efficiently and preparing an ASC for unexpected disaster.
Additional speakers and topics include Bethany Walmsley, Executive Director, and Melissa Parkerton, Director of Early Discussion and Resolution, both with the Oregon Patient Safety Commission, who will give participants an update on the foremost patient safety issues and programs being overseen by the state. Melissa Isovoran, Credentialing Project Director for the Oregon Health Authority, will discuss the common credentialing initiative with emphasis on OHA’s current processes; obligations of healthcare practitioners and credentialing organizations; and issues pertaining to stakeholders.
The conference will include an optional pre-conference directed at coding, billing and material management as well as an exhibit hall with vendors from medical device companies, billing and management companies and banks. More than 30 sponsors are involved with this trade show, showing their support for the ASC industry.
