Housing Works broke ground on Bend’s newest housing development, Eastlake Village Phase II.
Housing Works’ Executive Director Tom Kemper – who has seen the project take shape from concept to construction over the last four years says, “With Central Oregon in the midst of a housing crisis, the second phase of Eastlake Village could not come at a more crucial time.”
Eastlake Village II will provide forty units of affordable workforce housing including two units dedicated to chronically homeless veterans. R&H Construction, a local general contractor who completed the work on Eastlake Village Phase I, has also been tasked with the construction of Phase II.
The ground breaking for this project could not have taken place if it were not for the critical financial investments made by Oregon Housing and Community Services, the City of Bend, the Network of Oregon Affordable Housing (NOAH) and PNC.
“Oregon Housing and Community Services is incredibly excited for the groundbreaking of Eastlake Village Phase II,” said Margaret Van Vliet, director. “Our collective vision for the state is that all Oregonians have the opportunity to pursue prosperity and live free from poverty, and we know this project will help more families in Bend to achieve that goal. Eastlake Village II is meeting a critical need in the Bend area where available and affordable apartments are so scarce.”
