Bend, Oregon Ronald McDonald House Gets a Guest Room Facelift Thanks to the High Desert Design Council

Each year, the High Desert Design Council (HDDC) adopts a non-profit project. Since the beginning of this year, the HDDC has been working with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon to redesign their six guest rooms and en suite baths at the Bend Ronald McDonald House. This project, Refreshing the House That Love Built, is the first major redesign of the rooms since the House opened in 1997.

Teams of HDDC members worked on each guest room, using “serenity” as their theme. They worked with dozens of area retailers and industry professionals to procure the materials and labor necessary to completely re-imagine these spaces. As a result, six beautiful, unique rooms providing peaceful environments for the guest families were designed and produced.

The High Desert Design Council is hosting a private, grand re-opening event at the Bend Ronald McDonald House location at 1700 NE Purcell Boulevard in Bend, Tuesday, December 2 from 5:30-7:30pm. Event guests can mingle with the design teams and sponsors, see before-and-after images, and visit the rooms that are available.

The High Desert Design Council supports and promotes Central Oregon’s professional applied and decorative arts community. Founded in 2009, the HDDC is a non-profit business association with more than 90 members committed to integrity, design excellence, and sustainable practices. Interior designers and decorators, architects and building designers, builders and landscape architects, designers, artists, and industry partners are encouraged to join.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon seeks to directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and their families, across our region. The Bend Ronald McDonald House has provided overnight lodging and home amenities to families who must travel to Bend seeking medical care for their ill or injured child aged birth through 21, since 1997.
