Bend’s Volunteer Connect seeks volunteers for service projects on behalf of non-profits, including BrightSide Animal Center’s Thrift Store, on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 19.
At the Thrift Store, 838 NW Fifth St. in Redmond (next to Grocery Outlet), they are looking for volunteers to help organize the storage area. They get many seasonal donations for all the major holidays and struggle at keeping them organized and grouped by holiday.
Keeping seasonal items organized makes it easier when a holiday approaches so they can get items to the sales floor quickly. The more they can sell, the more they can give back to the animals at the shelter — so it’s a very important activity for the store.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Please dress warmly, in layers, and wear gloves, as our warehouse storage area is not heated.

BrightSide Animal Center, 501c3 non-profit, offers refuge, rehabilitation, and support services to more than 4,500 community animals each year, including 2,300 adoptable pets. We serve all of Central Oregon. Two in three animals are adopted outside of Redmond, with one in three animals adopted into Bend homes. The BrightSide Animal Center also provides low-cost spay and neutering, and microchipping, for pets of the people of Deschutes County. They depend on the support of the community and wonderful volunteers to fulfill its high-save mission.
