Sam Bousfield, CEO of Samson Motors Inc and designer of the Switchblade Flying Sports Car, was in the international spotlight recently for his company’s futuristic vehicle, being built in Prineville, Oregon. Invited by a NASA engineer, Bousfield presented at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, in Dallas Texas. The AIAA is the world’s largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession.

“I learned quite a lot from others, and I heard from others that they were very excited about what we were doing”, said Bousfield. “All in all, the trip was both interesting and worthwhile. I could tell they didn’t feel a flying car solution was really worth reviewing. These folks are the top of the food chain in the aeronautical world.” That changed during the course of the presentation, and in the end several came up to Bousfield to say that they were impressed with the project, and interested in finding out more about it.”

There were over sixty different sessions, and well over three hundred presenters at this year’s AIAA international conference. “One of the nicest acknowledgements came from the AIAA Director for Content who approached me and asked for ideas on how the AIAA could attract more presentations similar to the one I gave,” said Bousfield.
