Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), host of the 12th Annual Bend Venture Conference (BVC), announced the five Early Stage finalists that will vie for the $15K BendBroadband Business cash prize at BVC on Friday, October 16.
In alphabetical order, the five Early Stage finalists, which were decided by audience vote at PubTalk last week are:
AirFit: Putting gym and shower facilities into airports… “behind security because our goal is to help you feel happy, healthy, and productive when you are traveling. Feeling fantastic means different things to different people, that is why we are creating an app to help you personalize your AirFit experience.”

Outdoor Logic – Solutions: Developing products that make participating in outdoor activities easier, including a prototype-ready ski and snowboard boot remover called the DeBooter.
QuakeWarn: An Earthquake Early Warning System that sends alerts via SMS/push notification when shaking is detected at coastal monitoring sites. “We have sensors deployed along the Oregon coastline as close to the Cascadia Subduction Zone as possible. This fault which stretches 620 miles from Northern California to British Columbia has produced larger than magnitude 9.0 earthquakes repeatedly through history. www.quakewarn.com
Radventure: A peer-to-peer marketplace that helps frustrated outdoor adventure travelers explore a destination like a local. ” We’ve all been there. You’re in a rad new place, but aren’t quite sure where to start. You wish you had a local buddy to give you the inside scoop. You chat with ski techs, bike shop staff, and bartenders, but what you really want is local to show you the best spots that fit what you’re looking for so you can make the most of your time outside. We thought, why not create a place that both travelers and locals could find each other to share that valuable local knowledge in a new way and maximize fun!? …Radventure was born.”
SnoPlanks: Manufacturer of high-end bamboo snowboards. SnoPlanks are powder oriented snow-sliding vehicles, surf inspired in both shape and construction. These unique snowboards were developed to provide a new feeling for the rider who is looking to expand on the roots of their snow sliding experience. A powder weapon in design and function, snoPlanks excel when conditions are knee deep and above.
