How can you improve you and your horse’s riding experience through improving your body’s condition?

Dr. David Otto, DC will present A New Concept in Rider Training for Central Oregon at Absolute Horse on November 2 from 6-7pm.  Learn how a strength and conditioning specialist can work along-side your riding trainer for maximized improvements.

Dr. Otto has 29 years experience working with athletes and active people in order to improve their performance and prevent injuries.  Certified in sports performance and nutrition, he will discuss rider training for performance improvement and how “functional evaluation” can test strength, conditioning and balance.

Dr. Otto, who recently relocated to Bend and joined Center for Integrative Medicine, is a FirstLine Therapy Provider, past MN board of examiners practical tester in neurology, orthopedics and physical diagnosis and worked with Minnesota Vikings during training camp

“I was approached to give an informal talk/presentation by Absolute Horse,” explains Otto. “Abbie, the owner, likes the concept of helping horse riders by utilizing the services of an experienced strength and conditioning coach.”

“The concept is fairly simple.  Local rider trainers are typically sought to improve rider skills.  I am consulted to improve riders’ physical abilities.  Think of a baseball player trying to hit a home run.  His skills coach has taught him the proper form and timing in order to put bat on ball, but his strength and conditioning coach has made sure that he has the proper muscle fiber type and balance that will allow him to transfer power from the ground through legs, torso, shoulders, forearms and finally the bat.

“Oddly, there doesn’t seem to be anyone locally offering such a service that specializes in the improvement of the physical abilities uniquely needed by riders.”

Dr. Otto will provide innovative on-site, side-by-side valuations/videotaping with the trainer and rider, conduct functional evaluation to test key areas of strength, conditioning and balance, develop an individualized strength and conditioning program and monitor program in person or by Skype.

Come armed with your questions as there will be ample time for discussion.  Light refreshments will be served and door prizes and a promotional special added as a bonus.
