St. Charles Foundation and St. Charles Health System invite members of the community to nominate outstanding local physicians for this year’s North Star Award.
Presented at the Foundation’s signature annual event, the Saints Gala, this award recognizes an actively practicing physician in Central Oregon whose work has been defined by compassionate patient care, professionalism and a commitment to improving the lives of Central Oregonians.
“The North Star Award singles out a talented physician who has made it their life’s mission to provide patient-focused care,” said Lisa Dobey, executive director of St. Charles Foundation. “It is an excellent opportunity to honor someone who has enriched the field of medicine in Central Oregon.”
Dr. John Zachem, D.O., was recognized with last year’s award.
The winner will be presented with a crystal plaque and a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded in the physician’s name to a student who is planning to enter the health field or is currently pursuing education in the health field.
Any individual may nominate a physician for the award; candidates may also self-nominate. The deadline is August 20, 2016.

About St. Charles Foundation
As the philanthropic arm of St. Charles Health System, the Foundation works to support and improve health care in Central and Eastern Oregon. Private donations raised by the Foundation allow St. Charles to build new medical facilities, purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, keep pace with the latest technological advances and deliver exceptional patient care in a healing environment. The Foundation does more than just raise money for bricks and mortar. The organization also raises money to support many programs that benefit low-income and uninsured patients.
