“A healthy colon aids in having a healthy life,” Camilla Barton, owner of High Desert Hydrotherapy states. “In my experience, colon hydrotherapy helps balance out your digestive tract, flushing away accumulated toxins, which can leave you feeling light, rejuvenated and rehydrated.”
Barton is careful to point out that this is not medical advice, but that her belief stems from seeing both her parents succumb to cancer. This pivotal moment started her own questioning of the very definition of “healthy” and led her to the organ that is often times severely overlooked, if only because of its squeamish factor, the colon.
Educating herself extensively on the subject; reading, researching and taking classes, she came to the conclusion that colon hydrotherapy could be the key in helping prevent disease and increasing a general sense of wellbeing. Armed with this knowledge she opened her colonic based business and hopes that it will open the eyes of locals who are not aware of the benefits of this type of therapy.

Colonics have been increasing in popularity and are seen as an effective method in jump starting a cleanse or detoxification diet, ideal for when you’ve spent a summer over indulging in beers and greasy foods.
A local girl coming home, Barton wanted to bring this alternative form of therapy to downtown Bend and has been shocked by the response since opening her business in May. “The downtown Bend business community fosters such a sense of happiness. There have been challenges, sure but everyone I have met has been happy to promote my business.
They have been very supportive, which is what makes Bend stand apart from any other business community that I’ve encountered. There of course is competition, but it doesn’t feel like that is the main drive here. It’s just a happy place.”
Having suffered debilitating migraines throughout her life, Barton tried everything to make them stop. The only method that seemed to work was Colon Hydrotherapy. “Nowadays we lead such stressful lives, and our bodies, especially our intestines, hold onto needless things that build-up and can toxify your system. Hydrotherapy helps not only to flush away those stressful toxins but reminds us to breathe. I’m happy to share this balancing act with my clients.”
