Utility Trailer Sales of Oregon, Redmond received a Climate Champion Award at the 350Deschutes Conference, Climate Change: Solutions & Opportunities, which was held Oct 3-4, at Mt Bachelor Village Resort Conference Center, Bend.

The award is given to companies, government, and individuals that show exemplary leadership in actions that combat climate change,  “The clean economy offers value to individuals, businesses, and communities”, says Diane Hodiak, Executive Director of 350Deschutes, a climate advocacy and education nonprofit.

Utility Trailer Sales of Oregon installed enough solar, in partnership with E2Solar, of Bend, to become a Net Zero Facility. This means that the amount of energy that is consumed equals the amount of energy that is created. Since launch day, the business started selling electric power back to the grid.

Others receiving the award include:

Worthy Brewery, Bend, Oregon
For a multifaceted project that includes solar in multiple areas of the business: from solar heating for hot water, to a solar roof over the deck, equipment upgrades that reduce energy use, reducing energy costs by $10,000 yearly, and local sourcing of products. Worthy has received tax credits, rebates and depreciation benefits that have reduced up-front costs.

Three Sisters Irrigation District, Sisters, Oregon.
For their State of the Art Project that includes water conservation, energy efficiency, and wildlife habitat restoration that restored stream flows that enabled Salmon and invertebrates to return.  With plans to be carbon neutral by 2020.
