An innovative Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) course open to the Bend public kicked off on January 24 with a sold out class. Offered by the Opportunity Knocks professional development series and hosted at the Oregon State University — Cascades campus, this popular course will be offered again in April 2017.
CCT is an eight-week personal and professional development course designed at Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education, and taught around the world by certified facilitators. CCT gives students tools to improve awareness, leadership skills, and connection to others. Students in the current class include individuals representing a wide range of companies, organizations and industries in Central Oregon.
Aly Waibel, PhD, executive director of Opportunity Knocks, is a certified facilitator of CCT and has been teaching since 2013. “CCT is a science-backed program that provides practical tools for students to use immediately and experience positive change,” Aly explained.
The next CCT course will be held over eight consecutive Wednesday evenings, April 5-May 24, 5:30-7:30pm at OSU-Cascades.
