Come to The Nature of Words (NOW) on Wednesday, September 14 and begin work on that nature essay you’ve wanted to write. Instructor Michele DeSilva will guide you through the process during this three session adult class which continues on September 21 and September 28. The walking essay has long been a staple of the nature essay genre. This class will explore the connection between walking and writing the nature essay. All levels of adult writers are welcome – beginners, experienced and nature enthusiasts. Classes start at 6pm and end at 7:30pm. Cost for all three sessions is $65. Michele DeSilva is a two-time winner of NOW’s Rising Star Creative Writing Competition, including the nature essay category. She is a librarian at Central Oregon Community College and has taught classes at The Storefront, NOW’s drop-in workshops for middle- and high-school students.
The nature essay class is just the first in a planned series of adult creative writing classes at The Nature of Words, including a haiku class to be taught by award-winning haiku poet Jeb Barton.
