Mother-and-son duo Karrie and Tristan Trowbridge combine their skills to restore neglected houses in Bend. While Karrie claims the general contractor and designer roles, Tristan is her worksite muscle and protege. From beat-up bungalows to lackluster log homes, together they find and transform overlooked properties into one-of-a-kind homes.
Karrie Trowbridge
In 2002 the Trowbridges, a young family of 5, bought their first home, a 1923 neglected craftsman bungalow in Bend, OR. Karrie, a stay at home mom of three little boys poured her heart and soul into the design and renovation of that house on a tight budget. Little did they know, this project would be the stepping stone to her obsession with fixing up tired old houses. Fast forward to 2018, dozens of remodels and a handful of custom home builds later, Karrie and her oldest son Tristan are now running Trowbridge Construction, their family business. Karrie loves all aspects of home design, from conceptualizing and space planning, to picking finishes and furnishings. She thrives on the whole transformation process and creating homes that will nurture and inspire their inhabitants.
Karrie is also a Maker and when she’s not working on building or renovating homes, she can usually be found in her workshop tinkering with power tools, building furniture, sewing, or refinishing and reupholstering vintage furniture.
Tristan Trowbridge
Tristan is 21 years old and raised in the beautiful mountain town of Bend Oregon. Although growing up comes with lots of change, a few things have always remained consistent in his life; a passion for freestyle skiing, a love of videogames, and involvement in his parents’ construction company. Teaming up with his mom as Project Manager, Tristan takes creative inspiration from the mountains, art and his unique “Bend perspective.” Tristan’s ideal space is one that is functional, full of unique character, and relaxing.
