High Lakes Health Care is expanding its pediatric department in Bend, with the addition of Dr. Jennifer (JB) Warton. Dr. Warton joins pediatricians Dr. Carrie Day, Dr. Kristi Nix and nurse practitioner Kim Kleaveland at High Lakes’ Shevlin Park location, which offers primary care providers and outpatient services in a neighborhood setting.  Dr. Warton will began accepting patients April 1.

High Lakes Health Care is a local, independent health care practice with five locations: Bend’s Upper Mill, Shevlin Park and East Side, as well as Sisters and Redmond. In addition to Pediatrics, High Lakes provides Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Gynecology and Cardiology. High Lakes emphasizes relationships over volume, a philosophy that inspired Dr. Warton to join the tight-knit pediatric team at Shevlin Park. Dr. Warton has a special interest in newborn care and treating kids with allergies, asthma and eczema. Known as Dr. JB, she enjoys developing relationships with families and providing hands-on care for kids of all ages, from infants to teenagers.

A Bend resident in her youth, Dr. Warton left the region after earning her associates degree at COCC. She earned her medical degree from Chicago’s Midwestern University in 2007 and completed her Pediatric Residency Training at Oregon Health and Sciences University (Doernbecher Children’s Hospital) in 2010. Newly licensed, Dr. Warton returned to Bend with her family and began her career in pediatrics at Bend Memorial Clinic.

Dr. Warton’s strong reputation was formed not only through her warm interactions with patients, but also through her involvement in several projects, including the start of the pediatric hospitalist program at St. Charles Medical Center. In 2017, Dr. Warton left BMC to launch Bend Kids Pediatrics, based on the model of a small direct care practice. Bend Nest Magazine named her “Bend’s Best Pediatrician” in 2017.

High Lakes’ pediatric clinic offers same-day appointments to families. Parents can get answers to pressing questions by calling the nurse triage line during office hours. A pediatrician is always on call after hours. High Lakes Pediatrics shares the parking lot with the High Lakes Urgent Care clinic. The two clinics provide convenient continuation of care for pediatric patients needing x-rays, ultrasounds or treatment for minor injuries.
