Event to be held April 21 at Bend High School

Over 20 financial experts will congregate at Bend High School on April 21, 2012 to offer their services for free to the public for Money Smart Day.  There will be opportunity for one-on-one discussion with advisors regarding nine different subjects ranging from retirement planning to basic budgeting. In addition, a dozen local agencies will be available to discuss their programs that support financial well-being.

Money Smart Day will be held at Bend High School on April 21, from 12-4pm.  Admission is free and open to anyone seeking financial information.

“In this age of financial uncertainty, there are so many unanswered questions for everyone,” says Sarah Holtzclaw, Deputy Director for Partnership to End Poverty, sponsor of the event.   “It is important that everyone get answers to their questions, regardless of their current financial situation.”

Guests will have an opportunity hear a panel discussion from experts answering some of the most common questions in their fields.  The bulk of the event, however, is focused on 15-20 minute, one-on-one discussions with advisors in a variety of areas.  Guests can talk with as many advisors as they choose.  The areas of advising include:

  1. Foreclosure/Short sales
  2. Retirement Planning
  3. Fraud Protection
  4. Credit/Debt Management
  5. Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP)
  6. Bankruptcy
  7. SSDI/SSI
  8. Life Insurance
  9. Paying for College
