For the 15th year, the Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools will host its annual Trivia Night at the Tower Theatre on Friday, April 17 at 6:45pm in support of classroom grants for Bend, La Pine and Sunriver public schools. This fun community trivia competition is presented by premier sponsors Hayden Homes, OnPoint Community Credit Union and Summit Medical Group Oregon. Returning for 15 years as Scoreboard Sponsor is Lonza Pharma & BioTech. Local business and teacher teams come together to enjoy good-spirited rivalries over trivia. The winning team leaves with the coveted Championship Trophy, and all of the bragging rights that come with the win.

In 2019, Mt. Bachelor Rotary Group team “Service Above Knowledge” captured the championship title.  What everyone wants to know NOW is who will be champion in 2020? Who will win best costume or best team name? How can the audience get in on the action? New this year is an opportunity for audience members to be selected to participate on a team and compete!

Branch Manager at OnPoint and Education Foundation Board President, Wendy Graunitz, says of the collaboration, “In the ten years since OnPoint opened its doors in Central Oregon, we’ve worked hard to support education in our community. We are proud to continue the strong tradition of community partnerships with great organizations like the Education Foundation. I’m honored to have been on the foundation board for the past five years, and I’m grateful to work for a company that gives back to education year after year.”

Proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s Classroom Grants program. In 2019, the Foundation awarded more than $100,000 in innovative classroom grants and Back to School requests, the most awarded in its history. Classroom Grants provide opportunities for educators to engage and better prepare Central Oregon students for the demands of college and today’s job market. “We are so thankful for the support of our entire business community for our classroom grants program. Without their involvement, this 15-year event and our 31 years of service would not be the success that it is,” said Lis Thomas, board member and Trivia Night chair.
