Elemental Technologies led by Sam Blackman and Janrain, a software company, have landed on the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing private companies.
Coming in at No. 52 was Portland-based Elemental Technologies, with revenue growth from 2008 to 2011 of 4,518 percent. The company makes technology that processes and encodes video so it can be streamed to different types of devices. It brought in 2011 revenue of $10.2 million and employs 75.
Elemental has scored a string of big wins. Most recently, its technology helped power live streams of the London Olympic games. And in May, the company raised $13 million in a Series C funding round and moved into new offices in downtown Portland.
Janrain is Portland’s other Inc. 500 representative. The Portland-based software maker is No. 264 on the 2012 list, with three-year revenue growth of 1,361 percent and 2011 revenue of $3.4 million. The company employs 97.
Janrain’s technology allows consumers to log into websites using their Twitter and Facebook accounts. In October it joined forces with PayPal and X.commerce to form PayPal Access, which allows online shoppers to make transactions with participating retailers using an existing PayPal account.
