The six-month update and community engagement process is nearing its end and the Bend 2030 Vision Board of Directors is extending an invitation to the public to the to hear the results. The event will take place on Thursday, September 13 at 6-8pm at Wille Hall at the COCC Campus Center.
The event is free but space is limited and registrations are required through registerbend2030@yahoo.com.
Formally launched in April 2012, the Accelerate Bend process has directly engaged some 1,300 participants to date. The celebration will highlight the outcomes of the public engagement process gathered through an electronic public poll conducted at Accelerate Bend’s launch event at the Tower Theatre on May 24, six four-hour community workshops conducted in June and July, and the Question Pro survey conducted online in August.
The result is a list of Vision Accelerators that will be presented to the public at the Celebration. They reflect the criteria established for the Accelerate Bend process: bold ideas that lie within the realm of possibility, ideas that look out over the horizon but are achievable in the next three-five years, and ideas that would involve wider community collaboration between local organizations and community members in order to be achieved.
The Celebration will also showcase some Vision Accelerators that are currently moving forward. All of the Vision Accelerators are considered to be excellent candidates for community implementation, involvement and support. The public will be able to sign up for future involvement with Bend 2030 and give further feedback on how to proceed with the ideas that have come forth out of the process.
