MountainStar Family Relief Nursery will host its eighth Annual Children’s Expedition Fundraising Luncheon for guests, donors, volunteers, and members of the media. The featured topic this year is the power and importance of successful attachment in early childhood. This is an invitation-only event, however, we invite interested parties to contact MountainStar at 541-322-6820 to participate.
The event will be held on Wednesday, September 26 from 12–1pm at the Riverhouse Convention Center located at 3075 N. Highway 97 (Access from Mt. Washington Dr.). During this one-hour free event, Executive Director Tim Rusk, Mr. Jim Lussier and others will also share MountainStar’s successes and outline a roadmap for the future.
MountainStar’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by strengthening families through supportive services and parent education. MountainStar serves over 300 Deschutes County children, birth through 3 years old, and their families each year. These children come from high-stress family environments where children are at risk of child abuse or neglect.

Nationally accredited, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery (“MountainStar”) provides crisis intervention and a therapeutic classroom for 300 babies and young children from 6 weeks to 3 years old. These children come from families with multiple risk factors for child abuse and neglect, including low income, homelessness, mental health issues, domestic violence, and substance abuse.
