For more than 25 years, beautiful Central Oregon nature scenes have graced the walls of businesses and residences in the form of the Brooks Resources’ annual wall calendar. In 2013, the calendar gives a nod to some of the area’s most beloved recreational opportunities surrounding the Deschutes River – hiking on its trail loop, boating on its rushing waters and enjoying the 300 days of sunshine the region has to offer. Local photographer Steve Tague captured the iconic scene for the wall calendar.
“There are so many people and businesses here in Central Oregon who look forward to our calendar every year – it’s become an end-of-year tradition,” said Romy Mortensen, vice president of sales and marketing for the company. “We love working with local artists and photographers each year to capture the essence of Central Oregon. Steve’s done a great job on this year’s calendar and his featured photo integrates so many elements of what makes our area so special.”
The calendar, which is now available, is being distributed to local businesses by non-profit group Abilitree (formerly CORIL – Central Oregon Resources for Independent Living) in exchange for a donation from Brooks Resources. Abilitree empowers people with disabilities to grow their independence, productivity and inclusion in community life by providing them with resources and employment.
Individuals are welcome to visit the Brooks Resources corporate office in downtown Bend, Oregon to pick up a calendar for free. Brooks Resources is located at 409 NW Franklin in downtown Bend and will be open to distribute the calendars from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on all business days (closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day).
