Central Oregon Youth Conservation Corps Accepting Summer Applications

The Heart of Oregon Corps, in partnership with the Ochoco and Deschutes National Forests and the Crooked River National Grassland, is recruiting youth 15-18 years old for an education and work program that both provides summer employment for youth and completes important conservation projects on-the-ground for the Forest Service.

To be in the program, youth need to apply now for eight weeks of summer employment through the Heart of Oregon Corps. Applications must be received by April 25th and are available online at www.heartoforegon.org.

Nearly 100 applicants will be selected for this summer’s program and earn $8.95 per hour, working 36 hours a week.  Projects include building trails, maintaining fences, piling hazardous fuels, restoring campgrounds, improving wildlife habitat and other types of conservation work on the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests.

Youth will work nine hours a day, Monday through Thursday, June 25 to August 16 with crews based in Crescent, Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Prineville, La Pine, Mitchell and Madras.
