Personalizing Your Office

Even though you might be required to work in an office space as part of your job role, that doesn’t mean that the area needs to be kept fully business-orientated. Some changes, if permitted by your manager, and appropriate for your workplace, can be made to allow a bit more of your individual lifestyle and preferences to stand out. This can be especially comforting if you do not have much interaction with others during your workday, or even work alone.

Pictures

One of the more traditional methods that people use to give their office a bit of life is pictures of their family, friends, and even pets, alongside drawings that their children have lovingly created. To ensure that the originals of these are kept safe and free of any damage, as well as to add a bit more of a modern touch to the traditional photograph, you could instead opt to add some affordable hexagon canvas prints to your collection. Due to them being so lightweight, you could affix them to the sides of a cubicle, your walls, or even have them stand proudly on your desk, and, thanks to their affordability, you won’t need to put a great deal of your hard-earned money back into making your workspace a more enjoyable place to be.

Plants

Spending too much time indoors is never good for a person, which is why it can sometimes be beneficial to bring a bit of nature into the office. In particular, some plants, such as jasmine or lavender, have been known to help ease anxiety and stress, due to the scents and other properties. On top of this, when working independently, it can be comforting to know there is other life in the room besides yourself, even if it is not something that can communicate with you. As long as you remember to water them, and place them in the correct area of your office, they can thrive, even within a professional environment.

Comfort

While having items that speak to your personal choice and lifestyle can be great, it is also important to look for items that will help your overall comfort, especially when you need to spend many hours at a time sat at a desk, or using a computer. Investing in a good quality lumbar support pillow can help you to negate some of the effects of poor posture that can come from slouching over a desk. You could also look into accessories to help the feet, ankles, and even wrists, preventing damage or pain from the tasks required of you. These items are usually fairly small and lightweight, meaning you could easily transport them from your office to your home if leaving them overnight is not an option. Thinking about your physical health as well as your mental wellbeing can help your job to not become too cumbersome.

Making your office that bit more personal can really go a long way towards increasing your productivity and motivation, as well as your overall enjoyment. By having small items that have meaning to you, or serve a purpose, your working days may very well feel that bit easier.
