Envirotech Forging Partnerships in Prineville

If you’ve driven on a gravel road where dust control is used, or on a wintertime highway where de-icer is used, chances are those products were manufactured by Envirotech.

Based in Greely, Colorado, with offices or distributers in all 50 states, as well as Canada, Envirotech Services has been providing deicing, anti-icing, dust control, soil stabilization and erosion control products and services for over 20 years. They have an office in Prineville, serving all of Central Oregon. Due to the successful history of the construction industry in Central Oregon, as well as the rural setting, Envirotech saw Prineville as a perfect place to expand their market.

“I love Prineville,” said Jerald Benson Regional Manager. “The people are friendly, and they truly love their community. Prineville is also unique, because they have their own railroad. This has been very helpful to our business. They have been an invaluable partner to us.”

The Prineville Railroad has been in operation since 1917.

“According to our research, we are the oldest City owned railroad in America that is still in use,” said Dale Keller, business development manager City of Prineville Railway. “We are honored to have a relationship with Envirotech. They are exactly the type of business we need to forge relationships with. From their first meeting with us, they have tried hard to not only operate here, but to be members of the community as well. They brought needed jobs to Prineville, and they have a strong sense of small town values and ethics. The fact that they embraced our community, and made a commitment to hire local is a big deal to us. We consider them an anchor business for the railway. They even have their own spur line.”

It is apparent that Envirotech is committed to being good stewards of the planet we live on. In addition to their main products, Envirotech recently purchased “Bio Ballast” of Enumclaw. Washington. Ballast has been used in the agriculture industry since the 1940s. Weight is added inside the tires on tractors and other heavy equipment, to increase traction.

Until now, the ballast used contained Calcium Chloride (Salt). This created problems, because of its corrosive nature. It was also harmful to the environment. “Bio Ballast is a plant based product, that is non-corrosive, environmentally friendly and engineered to not freeze or turn slushy in temperatures all the way down to 30 degrees below zero,” said Gary Brown sales rep for Bio Ballast. “This is a product I’m truly excited about. It is one of the few clean, environmentally sound products in the industry.”

“Our objective at Envirotech is reducing the environmental impact of road maintenance. Our goal is to develop products with improved performance, while exceeding the green standards expected by the communities we serve,” said Steve Bytnar director of research and quality.

Recently Envirotech began supplying Les Schwab Tires with Bio Ballast. This is a perfect fit, considering Les Schwab has been a staple in the Prineville business community since 1952.

“We have a great working relationship with Envirotech,” said Mike Smith with Les Schwab. “Any issues or problems that arise are dealt with quickly. They get right on it. There is nothing on the market today like Bio Ballast. They definitely have a niche in the market. The fact that the product is environmentally friendly is great for everyone, especially the farmers.”
