Family Resource Center knows parenting isn’t always easy. After all, we aren’t born knowing how to handle a toddler tantrum, or how to manage raising children in the era of social media. That’s why Family Resource Center provides parenting education to all parents, caregivers, foster parents and grandparents in Central Oregon.
What is parenting education? It can be as quick as reading an article, or as involved as joining a group series. Parenting education is short term strategies for managing behaviors AND long term approaches to cultivating compassionate, happy children.
We believe parents are in charge of their parenting decisions. To make those decisions, parents want trustworthy information from people who see their family’s strengths and honor their values.
Find evidence-based programming, information and resources for raising children in our classes, workshops, play groups and support groups. Right now, most offerings are virtual, making it easy to join other parents in learning and sharing some of the tried and true methods for calming down upset children, finding time for yourself, recognizing your child’s feelings and showing them how to listen and love.
But, parents need more than just information to raise a family — they also need support and community. Our programs offer weekly opportunities to connect with fellow parents and lean into the understanding, encouragement and grace we can offer each other.
For nearly 30 years, Family Resource Center has supported Central Oregon families and caregivers with parenting education, resources and referrals.
