Interactive workshop event open to public November 14 at Eagle Crest, Redmond. The High Desert Enterprise Consortium (HiDEC) announce Guy Parsons as its keynote speaker, leader, and facilitator for a unique workshop event centered on what is referred to as “value stream mapping.”The event will benefit businesses across a wide variety of environments, including office, service, and manufacturing.
Associated with the Lean Enterprise Institute, Parsons is co-author of Mapping to See, a training approach based on value stream improvement projects. Attendees will benefit from a better understanding of their organization’s core processes and how that is linked to their success. Parsons will lead discussion among participants on how lean principles are applied in the real world.
The HiDEC Annual Conference takes place this Thursday, November 14 at the Juniper Room at Eagle Crest Resort from 1-5pm. Networking will follow, with appetizers and beverages provided. The event is open to the public; cost is $35 for HiDEC members and is $79 for non-members.
More detailed information about the workshop Each participating company will select one of its core processes and learn how the key elements of lean thinking and value-stream mapping can be applied to that process to enhance value delivery and create capacity with existing resources.
Workshop objectives:
• Identify core processes driving the business
• Learn and apply the principles of lean thinking to these processes
• Identify ways to do more with less while enhancing the customer experience
Through interactive instruction and activities, each participant:
• Will learn how to SEE the entire core process from a system perspective
• Create a high level visual representation of the core process
• Learn about redesigning core processes for improved cost, service and quality
• Create lean metrics to understand and manage the improvement of the selected core process.

About Guy Parsons Guy Parsons is the former program director at LEI where he worked for six years alongside Jim Womack, refining lean implementation concepts before leaving to develop a number of opportunities focused on lean transformation, acquisition, and investment. At LEI, Guy helped develop the program for the annual Summit conferences, managed research projects, built a network of lean thinking leaders in industry, and worked closely with Mike Rother and John Shook to produce Learning to See training in value-stream mapping. Prior to working with LEI, Guy was president of Merlin Metalworks, the bicycle company whose lean transformation was described in Lean Thinking.
