Members of Oregon’s construction industry are invited to attend a specialized conference January 27-28 designed to highlight safe work practices and code-related updates; the workshops are approved for continuing education credits.
Oregon’s Occupational Safety and Health Division (Oregon OSHA), a division of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, is one of several partners presenting the Mid-Oregon Construction Safety Summit at the Riverhouse Hotel and Convention Center.
On Tuesday, January 28, keynote speaker Eric Giguere will share The Buried Truth Uncovered, his story of a near-death accident of being buried alive while on the job. Through his life-changing experience, Giguere offers a personal safety message.
The conference, themed Safety: Get plugged in, features topics specifically designed for the residential and commercial construction workforce. Continuing education credits are pre-approved for the Construction Contractors Board, Building Codes Division (plumbers and electricians), Landscape Contractors Board, water services and solar PV installers. Conference attendees can choose from the following topicsand more:
• Electrical safety/NFPA 70E
• Confined space
• Rigging and crane awareness
• Work zone safety/flagging
• Fall protection
