BendBroadband will present a donation of money and goods to the Central Oregon Veterans Outreach Center (COVO) in memory of the victims of the August 28 Safeway store shooting, and the company is encouraging others looking for ways to help to give back to their community.

BendBroadband associates will visit COVO’s location at 61510 S Highway 97, Suite 100, at 2:30pm Thursday, September 8 to present a monetary donation as well as canned goods, water and other necessary supplies.

“BendBroadband wants to take back the day and demonstrate just how strong our community is,” said Kim Wilson, BendBroadband manager of Central Marketing. “We encourage others to donate or volunteer in your own way to help make our community a better place and show we are truly Bend Strong.”

Central Oregon Veterans Outreach provides basic necessities to homeless veterans and others in need. BendBroadband is reaching out to its business and community partners and asking them to join in by donating time, money, or other items to COVO and/or other nonprofit organizations.

According to media reports, an attack may have been originally planned for September 8. “A wave of community service would be an excellent way to show the loving and compassionate community that Bend really is,” Wilson said.
