It’s hard to miss the large construction project going on to the west of Mt. Washington Drive in NorthWest Crossing to make way for the new 30-plus acre Discovery Park. With a master plan for the park recently approved through the Bend Parks and Recreation District, this amazing community amenity is closer than ever to becoming a reality. In fact, the plan is that construction will be complete on the park in early 2015.
This is good news for the whole community. The park will feature a three-acre lake (with docks and a sandy beach area) with approximately 12 acres of developed park and about 20 acres of open space. Other planned amenities include:
– A dog park for Central Oregon’s canine community
– Nature play area for children
– Pavilion and restroom area for picnickers and gatherings
– Manicured lawns that will be irrigated by the pond
– Paved pathways and natural trails
– Native open space for exploring
Discovery Park is the third park that West Bend Property Company, the developers of NorthWest Crossing, have developed with the Bend Parks District. Compass Park and Lewis and Clark Park, both of which include children’s playgrounds, are already established within the neighborhood.
For those who love the idea of a beautiful park like this as a backyard, they’re in luck. Approximately 25 residential lots are nestled along the park, with fantastic views of the greens, lake and natural areas. Larger in size than most lots inside the neighborhood, they are perfect for custom homes. These lots will be available to NorthWest Crossing Guild Builders this May, and those interested can find out more by contacting The Garner Group Real Estate in the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood center.
