The Kiwanis Club of Redmond has been appealing to the community for donations to its Sam Johnson Park renovation project. Partnering with the City of Redmond and the club’s foundation, Kiwanis need to raise $225,000 to fund the $700,000 project. In an effort to make the June 1 deadline, a local donor has agreed to match funds raised up to $112,500.00.
“We have a challenge from an anonymous donor who will match up to $112,500.00 funds collected by June 1,” states Gary Ollerenshaw of the Kiwanis Club of Redmond. “This is an amazing opportunity and increases the impact of every dollar raised for the park project. So, start spreading the word to friends and family and let’s build a new playground!” Ollerenshaw enthusiastically declares.
Supports of the Sam Johnson Park renovation project will receive a window decal for every $25.00 donation and in turn raise awareness for the project by displaying the decal on their cars. Kiwanis and the City of Redmond are challenging corporations to contribute $25,000, and local businesses to contribute $5,000, and hoping to raise $25,000 from local donations by selling 1000 window decals.

Kiwanians began construction of the new park in 1987 and joined with the city on the renovation planning in 2012.
