Company Update: Josie’s Best

From her childhood watching her culinary father whip up breakfasts, Josie Johnson has appreciated good food—especially if that food was fluffy, round and drizzled with syrup. When she was diagnosed with food allergies in her 20s, she set out to find a pancake mix that could stand up to her cravings. When she couldn’t find it on the market, she spent hours in her kitchen tinkering with ingredients and measurements until she created what she now calls “the pancake.” From there, she has grown Josie’s Best to include the waffle, the muffin, the crepe, and more. What started as a personal mission has grown into a larger one—to bring back breakfast for everyone.

Company Pitch: Milroy Thorson Custom Furniture

Shannon Thorson and JT Milroy have recently relocated Milroy Thorson Custom Furniture from McMinnville to Sisters. Their work is fueled by unwavering passion and commitment paying homage to historic woodworking practices that date as far back as the late 1800s. One of their key priorities is popularizing the use of locally sourced Juniper wood which is considered invasive in Central Oregon. By expertly processing each piece of Juniper furniture, they not only create stunning works but also contribute to the ongoing efforts to positively impact the local water table. In addition to furniture creation, JT and Shannon design meaningful home elements such as barn doors, custom built-ins and statement beam pieces.
