The Downtown Bend Business Association announces record occupancy for second quarter of 2014. For the second straight quarter a record was broken. The highest leasing rate in five years was set at the end of the quarter as 98 percent of the available spaces are occupied. The occupancy rate is based on the number of leased street level retail/restaurant spaces in the downtown district.
“We ended the quarter with just three vacancies and are encouraged by the continued growth and investment in Downtown Bend, “ says DBBA Executive Director Chuck Arnold.
New businesses starting up this quarter are located on:
Bond Street
744 Bond – Fire in Bend has leased the space on the southeast corner of Franklin Avenue and Bond Street. The yet to open business is improving the space and plans to offer brick oven pizza when they open this summer.
838 Bond – Angelina Organic Skin Care has moved downtown where they are producing and retailing a variety of skin care products-many of which are made with locally and regionally produced ingredients.
Brooks Street
961 Brooks – Adjacent to Looney Bean Coffee and The Pine Tavern, High Desert Chamber Music now operates out of Downtown Bend. The nonprofit organization produces live chamber music concerts in venues downtown and all over Bend.
Franklin Avenue
550 Franklin – Stihl Whiskey Bar has leased and is improving the space just east of Bond facing Franklin Avenue. The bar plans to provide custom and unique whiskey drinks when they open later this summer.
Oregon Avenue
224 Oregon – Bend’s own button and refrigerator magnet maker Delia Paine is moving her art studio into the heart of downtown. Via Delia will have both a studio and a retail store. Joining her is local artist Jen Aylward of Just a Little Charm, who makes “up-cycled cool copper stuff.”
Wall Street
1000 Wall – Bend Modern has opened next door to Patagonia and features a unique blend of furniture including Danish modern and American mid-century as well as vintage watches.
The DBBA is a private nonprofit organization representing approximately 350 businesses and 85 property owners working to keep Downtown Bend vibrant. The organization is responsible for downtown beautification, cleaning and maintenance, marketing, events and keeping the business environment healthy.
