As we embrace Historic Preservation Month in May, there’s no better time to delve into the rich tapestry of Redmond’s past. Join us for a captivating evening as the Redmond Historic Landmarks Commission takes you through time, reintroducing the stories of Redmond’s founding families and their commerce origins. On Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 4:30pm, we invite you to step back and follow the pioneers who shaped our city. This unique event will be led by founding resident Chad Irvin and promises to be educational and engaging. Chad will regale us with tales of his life, his friends, and the remarkable history woven into the very fabric of Redmond.
Our history stroll will begin inside SCP Redmond, where we’ll gather before embarking on a leisurely stroll north along 6th Street. Along the way, we’ll pause at significant landmarks, including the iconic New Redmond Hotel, as Chad unveils the captivating stories behind these historic buildings. From the bustling commerce of yesteryear to the intimate family anecdotes, each stop promises to glimpse Redmond’s colorful past.
The stroll will culminate at the historic First Presbyterian Church on Cascade Ave, where we’ll gather for a social mixer inside the First Presbyterian Church at Grace and Hammer Pizza. Amidst the timeless charm of this architectural gem, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with fellow attendees, share your own stories, and deepen your appreciation for Redmond’s heritage. It’s a chance to savor the flavors while reflecting on the memories we’ve unearthed together.
