As we reflect on this holiday, we’re grateful for members of Oregon State University’s veteran community for their selflessness and dedication to serving our country.

Nearly 200 student veterans recently received their diplomas as part of the university’s 155th graduating class.

Among the Class of 2024 was College of Liberal Arts grad Angelina Trillo, who was just named Student Veteran of the Year by the Student Veterans of America. You may recognize her name from an update we shared about her earlier in her student journey.

Trained as a medic, Angelina balanced her studies with Oregon National Guard service and work at a medical clinic.

While leading the Student Veterans Association on the Corvallis campus, she helped establish women’s, LGBTQ and veterans of color support groups.

Angelina also worked with Oregon State to hire a full-time mental health counselor who focuses on serving veterans and military-connected students.

And this fall, Angelina will begin her master’s degree in public health policy at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) with the help of scholarships.

We’re grateful to our community and donors who have ensured veteran students like Angelina continue to find a supportive home at Oregon State. Gifts to the Veteran and Military-Connected Student Success fund make an enormous difference.
