Just in time for snow and ice, one of The Boys & Girls Club of Bend’s (BGCB’s) Ford Transit vans will get some top-notch new winter tires during a live installation demo at 12:30pm October 30 at the Les Schwab Tires store at 210 NE Third St. The demonstration is part of the BGCB’s #WorkforceWednesday program, which introduces young minds to potential career paths and offers them hands-on experiences in a variety of industries. The demo will be attended by about a dozen students grades four through eight.
Les Schwab Tires is donating new sets of tires to five nonprofits in Central Oregon in 2024 as part of its Tires for Purpose program. This will be the program’s fourth tire installation. Other partners in the program are Bethlehem Inn, Furnish Hope, NeighborImpact and Oregon Adaptive Sports.
The BGCB has served the Bend community for 30 years with a mission to provide supportive relationships and opportunities for growth that inspire and empower youth to reach their full potential in the classroom, at home, and in the community. These new tires will support the safe transportation of young people to BGCB facilities and on field trips throughout the year, and the installation of winter tires is especially important as freezing weather approaches. Media are invited to attend this event.
