Celebrate with the long-time Bend, Oregon golf club on July 12, 1-5pm. In 1925, some farsighted members in tiny Bend, Oregon decided that they needed a place to gather, play golf and socialize. They chose a beautiful, heavily treed site on Bend’s far south side to build a Chandler Egan designed 9-hole course with a small clubhouse near the intersection of today’s Murphy and Parrell Roads.
Who would have guessed that ninety years later, this course would turn into the recently renovated, still tree-lined, walkable Bend Golf and Country Club. Still member-owned and still a jewel in one of the nation’s prime golf areas, BGCC now boasts a pristine 18-hole course that is open year round, a complete pro shop and practice facility, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a complete athletic facility, an indoor saltwater pool and hot tub, a variety of dining options and an active, thriving, vibrant membership that welcomes new members to their family-friendly club.
To celebrate their ninety years in the community, they are holding an open house to thank the community for their support over the years and to showcase their beautiful facility. A member’s only event will be held on Friday evening, but a community-wide event for interested citizens will be offered on Sunday, July 12, from 1-5PM at the club, located at 61045 Country Club Drive, Bend.
The afternoon is planned as a family-friendly event with a kid’s golf competition, a putting/chipping contest and other fun things for kids to do. The recently renovated course, designed by Dan Hixson, will be showcased with tours of the course offered throughout the afternoon.
Local history buffs will enjoy the historical photos on display. Staff and members will be on hand to answer questions about the club and offer tours of the facility as desired. Of course, a celebration wouldn’t be complete without food and beverages and those will be available at 90th Anniversary pricing.
