Camp Fire Axe is four days and nights of hands-on immersion into the world of today’s fire service for youth ages 15 – 19. Campers are issued firefighting and other protective gear and learn skills such as how to rappel from a building, remove trapped victims from motor vehicle crashes, firefighting basics, medical skills, and many other topics essential for today’s fire service. The instructors for Camp Fire Axe are off-duty firefighters from the Bend Fire Department.
By the end of Camp Fire Axe, campers may find themselves on the path to a lifelong mission of service to their community. This is the 8th year of Camp Fire Axe, and to date we have helped a total of 86 young men and women make an educated choice on their future career path.
On Sunday June 21 the newest seven graduates of Camp Fire Axe demonstrated the skills they have learned.
