City Club of Central Oregon Presents Millennials, Gen-Xers & Baby Boomers: Challenges of Creating Productive Workplace for All

0

By 2025 millennials, also known as Gen Y or those born in the ’80s and ’90s, will make up the majority of the workforce. City Club Forum set for Thursday, December 18 at St Charles Center for Health and Learning.

According to Forbes:
• 6 in 10 students say they are NOT considering a career in business, and 48 percent said they have NOT been encouraged to do so.

• 59 percent of business decision makers and 62 percent of higher education influentials give recent college graduates a C grade or lower for preparedness in their first jobs.

• 68 percent of corporate recruiters say that it is difficult for their organizations to manage millennials.

• 74 percent of non millennials agree that millennials offer different skills and work styles that add value to the workplace.

• 74 percent agree that businesses must partner with colleges and universities to provide business curriculums that properly prepare students for the workforce.

If a business wants to succeed in today’s world, understanding what different generations value and how those values impact their work styles is mandatory. How are employers dealing with these differences among the three generations? What kind of changes have they made?

Millennials will be the majority of the workforce by 2025. Are employers ready for this shift? Our panel will discuss the different values and work attitudes of each generation and how they’ve accommodated these differences. Plus we’ll hear from a Millennial about her experience working with the older generations.
