The City of Redmond invites the community to attend the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new Public Safety Facility, located at 2983 NW Canal Blvd, on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 3pm. The new, approximately 42,000-square-foot, two-story building has been designed to provide the department the ability to better meet current and future public safety needs of the Redmond. The total project cost estimate is $49 million and is slated to be completed June 2025.

“The City of Redmond is blessed to have an outstanding police department. This groundbreaking marks the first step in us realizing a facility that matches the quality and commitment of our officers,” shares Mayor Ed Fitch.

The new Public Safety Facility, designed by FFA Architecture and Interiors, Inc., will provide the following community benefits; privacy for crime victims to meet with officers, ample parking for both employees and community members, high visibility location for custody exchanges and marketplace transactions, as well as a facility built to leverage modern technology. The project also includes an emergency operations center and training room which can be utilized by the public for group events.

“We are grateful for the support we have received from the community to make this project possible; it is a testament to our city’s leadership and the respect garnered by the dedicated men and women who serve Redmond,” states Redmond Police Chief Devin Lewis.

Construction of the building is aligned with meeting LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) specifications, including electrical vehicle charging stations both in the visitors and staff parking areas and solar panels on the roof of the building. The remaining 1.5 acres of the 8-acre site are anticipated to be developed over the next few years.

The project has been in the making for more than two years since land was acquired back in 2021 for the using Redmond American Rescue Plan Act funds. In May 2022, Redmond voters approved a $40 million bond to finance the construction of a new public safety facility. For more information visit us online at redmondoregon.gov/PublicSafetyFacility.
