Connecting Women & Leadership

One of the biggest strengths women have is the ability to bring people together and connect different groups of people. And yet women only hold 19.1 percent of the House of Representative seats and 21 percent of the seats in the Senate, not to mention similar percentages varying throughout state positions. In face of this reality, Kira Cleveland says she was inspired to create a conference that would enable women to step into their full leadership, and look to how they can contribute it to their communities, state and nation.

In partnering with Vision to Action and motivational speaker Cheryl Lyons, they were able to create the first of many “Connecting Women and Leadership” Conferences! This flagship conference will be taking place Thursday, June 15 from 9am to 5pm at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond.

One track will focus on leadership development, and another track will provide attendees with an in-depth overview of our government system, how it operates and the variety of offices and support positions they can get involved with.

“It’s about looking at the women and government from a whole perspective,” offers Cleveland. “Fully empowered and centered women are what enable effective leaders and a government supported by a network of women is what will enable us to transform our nation.

“When we’re facing legislative initiatives that consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition, and maternity and newborn care are no longer protected “essential health benefits, we can no longer afford to have women underrepresented within our government. It’s important to have greater equity in women and men holding government offices, and we’re not just focusing on women running for office. We are creating a network of powerful women supporting those offices and ensuring the ability for women to step into them. Women have a profound ability to coalesce people and teams, and that’s what we’re committed to developing for them, for our communities, and for our nation.”

The event is being co-sponsored by Vision To Action and Next Gubernatrix. For more information, call Cheryl Lyons at 509-869-3459 or www.VisionToAction.org.
