Thousands of people have been impacted by the recent Oregon wildfires, many in shelters who cannot go home and are in need of a way to stay connected with loved ones.
Portland-based wireless provider Consumer Cellular has donated 200 activated cell phones and numerous chargers to evacuees forced out of their homes by the recent wildfires. Since the warehouse was closed this past weekend, the management team gathered at its headquarters to activate the phones. The devices are being distributed this week by the American Red Cross. The phones are earmarked for people in shelters in Medford, Lincoln City, Clackamas and the convention center in downtown Portland.
