Crook County Connect and Beyond is a free event designed to help people in need establish a local network through which they can access the tools and services necessary to build a healthy and sustainable life.

Crook County Connect and Beyond is not a band-aid for the problems of poverty and homelessness; it’s a jump-start, a hand-up, it establishes personal connections that continue “beyond” the one-day event.

“The difference between us and people in need is that they don’t have the social networks that can help them connect to the services that will get them to the next level in their lives,” said Greg Sanders, director of Redemption House Ministries in Prineville and project leader for the event.

Many area volunteers are planning and organizing the Crook County Connect and Beyond event to be held on Saturday September 19 at the Crook County High School. This one-day “hand-up” event will provide a myriad of services, all in one location, to those in need.

“We’re expecting as many as 500 guests from around Central Oregon,” said Sanders. “Free services and support on-site will include shuttle service to/from the event, medical, dental, mental health, personal care, food (breakfast and lunch) children’s services, housing, veterinary care, financial, legal, obtaining identification, and more – as well as connections to take guests “beyond” this one day.

“We’d like your media organization to help us by promoting the event using your publication, station and social media channels. Opportunities for day-of on-site coverage are open now and we would love to have you there.”

Given the large need in Central Oregon, and specifically Crook County, many eyes and ears will be on this event.

This is an opportunity for your organization to cover an emotion-filled event, where caring people help those in need.
