In the heart of Downtown Redmond off of Sixth Street, a new space promises to bring art, education and connection to the community. The Dry Canyon Arts Association (DCAA) has begun construction on the Dry Canyon Community Arts Center.

According to the DCAA website, “The Dry Canyon Community Art Center is poised to become a cornerstone for artistic growth and community connection in Redmond. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of an angel investor, the historic Rogers & Lynch building at 405 SW 6th Street has been secured as the future home for this exciting initiative. The center will officially take possession of the building on August 1, with renovations planned over the following three months. A grand opening is targeted for November 7 ushering in a new era for the arts in our community.”

This has been a goal for DCAA for quite some time; the group first settled on the idea of creating a dedicated arts center in 2004, when artists were frustrated at the lack of galleries in Redmond, prompting the DCAA (known as the High Desert Society of the Arts, at the time) to take matters into their own hands.

According to a document shared by the organization, “Over the past 20 years, DCAA has rented and borrowed space all over Redmond to hold art exhibits, shows and meetings. Meanwhile, the need for social and professional outlets for artists has grown along with membership in the DCAA. A group that struggled to attract 20 artists pre-pandemic has grown to over 200 members, and now struggles to find venues large enough to accommodate their meetings. DCAA members are thrilled to soon have a home of their own for meetings, exhibitions, classes and more, and Dry Canyon Arts Association is positioned to grow even larger when the potential of the new Dry Canyon Community Arts Center is realized.”

When that potential is realized upon the center’s completion in the first week of November, Redmond will have a 2000 square foot gallery, along with three dedicated classrooms for art education for all ages and in all mediums.

According to DCAA, “This innovative space is designed to be a vibrant hub for creativity and expression, where residents of all ages and skill levels can come together to explore and nurture their artistic talents. The center will offer a diverse range of opportunities, including classes, workshops, and inspiring exhibitions. These programs will be tailored to engage the community, sparking inspiration and fostering collaboration among artists, enthusiasts, and the broader public.”

Also from the DCAA regarding founding sponsors, “We are inviting individuals only to become a founding sponsor. To be a founding sponsor, your donation of $100 or more must be received on or prior to the grand opening November 7, 2025. If you have already donated to the art center project for $100 or more, you are already a founding sponsor. If you would like to increase your current donation to $100 or more to qualify for a plaque, please do so by November 7, 2025. Donations of any size are welcome.”

Redmond looks forward to a dedicated space for the arts, and the DCAA is excited to unveil it, ideally, on November 7.
