Engaging Families & Communities in Education Talk Slated in Bend, Oregon

The Central Oregon Chapter of the Oregon Association for the Education of Young Children and Central Oregon Community College are presenting Engaging Families and Communities in Education by Karen Mapp at 6:30pm on Friday, April 24, in the Bend High School Auditorium.

Dr. Mapp will discuss the importance of schools, families and communities working together to support children’s learning.

The night begins at 5 p.m. with a free Parents’ Night Out dinner provided by Long Board Louie’s in the Bend High Commons Area. Attendees are asked to please bring a donation for the food bank (recommended donation: one can per guest.)

Karen Mapp is a senior lecturer on Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the faculty director of the Education Policy and Management Master’s Program. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Mapp’s research and practice focus has been on the cultivation of partnerships among families, community members and educators that support student achievement and school improvement.
