On September 11, the Board of COIC unanimously agreed to the appointment of Tammy Baney to serve as the Executive Director of COIC beginning January 1, 2019.
The recruitment process for the Executive Director began in May after Karen Friend, after serving 22 years at COIC, announced her desire to retire. The COIC Board adopted hiring procedures and conducted an extensive national search to ensure the greatest access to a national candidate pool and provide the greatest opportunity to find the best candidate for the position.
Ms. Baney has had the opportunity to work across many domains, all directed toward supporting the success of communities in the region. She works as an elected official, director, and chair of numerous statewide committees and commissions that affords COIC the opportunity to put her knowledge of transportation, housing, natural resources, economic development, youth development and regional convening to work to lead the evolution and assure the relevance of COIC into the future. In addition Ms. Baney has developed strong local, state and federal relationships over the last several years that the COIC Board felt would be an asset to the Executive Director role and to COIC.
