We are incredibly excited to launch the third annual First Chair Fundraiser. This campaign kicks-off with the opening of our online/silent auction and concludes next Thursday at the First Chair Gala at Tetherow Resort. Thanks to our amazing sponsors, the in-person event is sold out, but all will be able to watch the First Chair program live and online! The online broadcast will commence at approximately 7:15pm on October 13th and will be available at this link: oregonadaptivesports.org/firstchair.

Dozens of items are now open for bidding and every bid or donation directly supports access to life-changing outdoor experiences for individuals with disabilities. Thank you for your support!

First Berms

This past week OAS partnered for the third time with Craig Hospital to facilitate a week-long adaptive mountain biking retreat for Craig Hospital alumni with spinal cord injuries. OAS provided access to its fleet of state-of-the-art adaptive mountain bikes and facilitated a week of skill building and trail riding by OAS staff and volunteers.

Athletes not only gain confidence and skill on the trail but are supported by a team from Craig Hospital who help navigate the challenges often experienced when traveling. Athletes are also supported by Destination Rehab who assess and prescribe exercises for each to maximize strength, flexibility and injury prevention. This year the group was also treated to a Paulina Lake excursion thanks to our partners at Wanderlust Tours!

These trips mark a pinnacle of the OAS mission and are what events like First Chair make possible. Empowering athletes with disabilities to gain access to the mental and physical benefits of outdoor recreation. With proper equipment, training, transportation and support the barriers to the outdoors fall away and all can seek the joys that await down the trail.
