Wednesday, April 1, 6-8pm Mark Silliman, CEO of Smartwaiver invites you to network with the future via a life-size robot visiting his company.
“To state that this Meetup is going to be special is a massive understatement,” says Silliman on the Homebrew Technology Club of Bend, OR meeting site. “I’m ridiculously excited to announce that Bend will be the first town in Oregon to have a life-size humanoid robot capable of working alongside humans in warehouses effective immediately. Come meet the future of Bend’s tech sector.”
Smartwaiver is located at 626 NW Arizona Ave. Suite 7, Bend
Check out the You Tube video. Rethink Robotics is redefining how manufacturing and production facilities can utilize automation. Robots work side by side with skilled labor, are trained interactively and provide a rapid ROI for companies of all sizes. It’s the future of manufacturing – and it’s up and running today.

The robot visiting Bend comes in at 250 lbs (168 lbs + end effectors, stand etc), stands at 6 feet 3 inches with a wing span of 8 feet 6 inches. The model is a research unit (full root access). Bend is receiving one of the earliest models (less than 150 in the world).
The goal of these Meetups is to bring together as many tech entrepreneurs (current or inspiring), devs of all languages, engineers, gamers, artists (graphics or other), UX / UI junkies, nerds, geeks, hackers (both software and hardware), folks interested in the “internet tubes” and playing with technology under one roof. Gatherings will be held once a month and anyone that fits the above criteria is invited.
