Ginger Beds, a handcrafted dog bed designer, distributor and manufacturer intent on making a better dog bed for pups everywhere, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its new headquarters in Bend. Prior to the move to Bend, the company was launched in Portland.
Ginger, an English Bulldog who unfortunately passed away in late 2019, was the company namesake and main inspiration for the business. John Acree, founder and owner, handcrafts each and every bed in the Bend workroom. Ginger Beds curates design-inspired fabrics from all over the world with the goal of finding unique and beautiful fabrics that not only make for a comfortable bed, but also look great in any home.
“We know how much dogs love their dog beds, which is why we set out to design high-quality, durable and soft dog beds that not only look good in your home, but also provide a luxurious sleeping environment for any pooch,” said Acree.
Each Ginger Bed is made up of three unique components that come together for a long-lasting, durable dog bed: earth friendly pillow-fill that comes from recycled plastic water bottles, a channel-stitched cushion to ensure a long-lasting lounging experience and design-inspired fabric covers that are removable, washable and made with every canine family in mind.
Additionally, Ginger Beds is a proud supporter of pet inspired nonprofits. The company is a supporter of K9S For Warriors, a nonprofit organization that trains and provides therapy dogs for veterans suffering from PTSD. K9S For Warriors trains shelter and rescue dogs (95 percent of their dogs), providing these dogs with a new start and rigorous training so they can improve the life of their veteran forever. Locally in Bend, Ginger Beds donates one bed per month to the Humane Society and Street Dog Hero. These organizations choose which family and pup are the most deserving, and a new Ginger Bed is gifted to them.
“With Ginger Beds, we are committed to a cleaner planet, less waste and paying it forward to help the veterans and rescue dogs of our great nation and the world,” said Acree. “We could not be happier with our move to Bend and look forward to having a positive impact in the City of Bend!”
