How are you — and your work — impacted by this era of polarization and deep divides?

Come to a PAID workshop and test new, practical skills designed to deepen your reporting and reduce your stress.

This paid workshop is part of PSU master’s degree research. Skills to be shared are adapted specifically for journalists from conflict resolution techniques. Workshop leader Emily Harris is a longtime Oregon journalist and co-founder of Oregon News Exploration; she is also studying media and conflict at PSU. Compensation for workshop participants comes from a grant to ONE.

Saturday, October 26
2-4:30pm
In-person —Portland State University
Compensation: $150 Visa gift card (no fees; usable anywhere VISA is taken)
Space is limited. Please email emily@oregonexploration.news to sign up.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Interested but can’t make it? You can help by taking this ten-minute, anonymous survey. And follow @SPJOregon on X and @aajapdx on Instagram for information about a shorter workshop sharing similar tools at their Build a Better Journalist conference in mid-November.
