On June 10, Bend’s own KC & Ron Radio Show will mark its 25th year on Central Oregon airwaves. The broadcasting duo, composed of KC Caldwell and Ron Alvarez, first hit the air in 1996 and have occupied the 5:30-10am weekday slot on Classic Rock 98.3 “The Twins” (KTWS) ever since.

Fans of the radio station, affectionately referred to as “Twinsters,” have made KC & Ron appointment-listening since the inception of the program. In addition, midday host Leslie James and afternoon-drive host Dennis Shaw (D-Shaw), are also approaching three decades on “The Twins.” According to James, “We are family. We love each other and I think our listeners feel that connection.”

Over the years, KC & Ron have entertained area listeners with everything from vehicle giveaways and turkey-drops to polar-plunges and daily trivia. The pair have bared their souls to the public and shared their personal lives with the entire community since Bill Clinton occupied the White House. “You just don’t see this kind of longevity in broadcasting,” commented station General Manager Jeremy Groh. “Their partnership and the station as a whole are both true icons in the American radio landscape.”

In celebration of the upcoming KC & Ron milestone, “Twinsters” are invited to join station staff and other fans for a ticketed concert at General Duffy’s Waterhole in Redmond on Saturday, June 26. Details can be found online at GeneralDuffys.com.
