Custom Furniture, Cabinets and Millwork
During the recession in 2010,Mike Lockling and Brian Nordlunddecided to open their own manufacturing company, Made To Order Woodworks (MTOW). They had previously worked together at another manufacturing company for more than ten years, so combining their efforts seemed second nature. From residential to commercial projects, cabinets, furniture and millwork, MTOW can craft it all. The company is able to execute a spectrum of styles from modern to old world.
Lockling feels they stand apart from competitors because MTOW is capable of, “a wide range of product. Many shops only do run of the mill; we do it all. We are a job shop,” he says matter-of-factly, “We don’t turn jobs down due to ability. We work with all materials and we figure out how to do what the customer wants. Recently, we worked on a bar in Sisters which included a specialized metal fabrication. Many other companies turned the job down because it was an atypical task. We focus on finding a way.”
Whenaskedwhat regionally specific trends were seen in wood choice and design in projects most recently, Nordlund and Lockling said diversity was the name of the game. Lockling explains they are getting requests for “a little bit of everything. From rustic and reclaimed 1800’s barn wood, to clean lines and modern styles. Forever, folks were into knotty alder. Now, darker is a bit more popular, but we see it all within the same neighborhood.”
Nordlund adds, “In two homes we worked on in Black Butte Ranch, one couple wanted vertical grain fir, which is more modern, and another down the street distressed knotty alderfor a cabin feel. We recently completed a project here in town that required clear alder for a traditional look in most of the house and for the craftsman, executive stylethey requested dark walnut for the rest.”
As MTOW acquires more projects, their focus turns to breweries, residential and commercial jobs. It is important to Nordlund and Lockling to have strong roots in local construction projects from commercial to residential.
Lockling wants folks to know, “We look forward to working with you to make your ideas and visions for your space an affordable reality.” Nordlund adds, “The best part of this business are the people I get to work with, and I am privileged to be part of their dreams coming true.
“Individuals who are seeking quality built furniture products or interior cabinet packageslook hereto get a little more value for their dollar and contact MTOW for an estimate.Customers can look forward to receiving a quality product, design and construction. Good, old-fashioned today service.”
Nordlund and Lockling say they are never surprised when they finish a project and the client ends up becoming a friend.
“We know that the best form of advertising is a good recommendation from a previous, satisfied client.”
